This painting captures both an intimate snapshot of our home life – right down to the patina on our coffee pot – and also the more abstract beauty of light reflecting on chrome, brightly coloured objects, the curves and contrasts found in a corner of the kitchen… I find these snippets of everyday life can be as evocative as grander subjects. They have a way of capturing a particular place and period in our lives that becomes increasingly meaningful with the passing of time.

I love studies for the life and energy they capture! They show the thought process of the artist and have an intimacy and immediacy to them that finished studio work sometimes doesn’t. They are also a very affordable way to collect original works of art!
